Fancy Pants

by Ari Chadwick-Saund

I’ve got an idea for a design

That’ll send shivers down your dykey spine.

Moraga’s there - square on the right pocket;

Poet-maven hugging ball-and-socket.

Gertrude and Alice here, by my left knee,

Stitched in silk Parisian embroidery.

Hansol Jung will rest on both my shinbones;

Imagine a stage flooded in jean tones.

I’ll put Bechdel here, high, above the hips

From where I’ll draw my queer feminist quips.

I’ve got more: List as long as you are tall.

But I’ll need your butch to tackle it all.

Start tomorrow? And I know you’ll agree:

These fancy pants will suit us perfectly.
