You Can Live Without Ai

Everyone we love is flawed. It’s a fact of life, no one’s perfect. I’ve come to accept that, but there are some things that bother me that I cannot budge on. Ai is something my friend and I had a discussion about that neither of us could agree on.

I’m pretty rigid when it comes to Ai. It’s unethical in that it is a giant plagarism machine that steals from authors and artists. You are not an artist or writer for putting in a prompt and repeating what is spit out. Not to mention the environmental impacts and destruction that Ai causes.

When I told my friend how it enrages me when even our mutual friend uses it, she seemed pretty nonchalant about it and it angered me. She’s a vegan and she said that she could say people that eat meat are evil and lazy. That they take the lives of innocent animals who had hearts and souls. But at the end of the day she is only responsible for herself.

So, I have some problems with her comparison. First of all no one is evil for needing to eat. Even plants feel pain. So is the solution not to eat anything? No. Do I also think that we could afford to eat less meat? Yes. I’m not saying to load your burger with bacon or to eat your weight in sausage. However, I also think that it’s important to remember that some people have food allergies and sensitivities and dietary restrictions. Some people need to eat more meat than others because not everything can be supplemented by vitamins and an all plant diet.

If you think someone is “evil” or “lazy” for eating meat that is your right, but that is only your opinion. Ai is unethical and bad for the environment, and it shouldn’t be up for personal choice.

Not to mention, everyone needs to eat food to survive. You can live without Ai. What would our friend do without it? Make her art with Canva, Photoshop, Gimp, or any other program out there. Her lack of resources doesn’t make it okay for her to use Ai ever. What would my friend’s husband do without Ai assisting him in his presentation? Use Google or some other search engine to find the information that he needs.

Also, as a vegan; I thought she’d be concerned about the habitat loss for the beloved creatures of earth. Because with as much water as it uses to cool down it’s systems, there’s bound to be loss of even more life.

There’s no need to use Ai when the environmental impacts are so huge and it plagarizes from people. Do better!
